How to Speed Up Your Logging Using the Create a Meal Tool
One of the tougher things about this journey is the time it can take logging your meals. It can take time if there are quite a few ingredients but you are in luck! There is a solution! Using the Create a Meal tool will speed up your logging SIGNIFICANTLY!
Here is an example of how the create a meal tools speeds up your logging. There is a restaurant called Cava and I create my own Mediterranean bowls from there. The bowl that I like has 11 ingredients. If I were to log all 11 ingredients every time I eat there, that would take a long time even for a seasoned food logger. I did have to log them once but after logging all 11 ingredients, I saved them using the Create a Meal tool. Now when I want to eat at Cava, I log 1 meal and it automatically logs all 11 ingredients! Super convenient! What if I can’t fit in all 11 ingredients or what if I am just not in the mood for one of the ingredients? You just simply swipe left and delete it or you click on the food and you adjust your serving.
I have meals saved for all restaurants that we go to often and I have meals created for all of my go to meals that I eat at home. Because I have taken the time to save all of these meals, when I go to pre-log my day, it takes me around 2 minutes. It’s 100% worth utilizing that tool!
Here are the steps to create a meal:
The easiest and quickest way:
After you have your food logged in your diary, click the 3 dots to the right of Add Food.
Click Save as Meal. (Note: all entries under that meal will be saved to the meal you create so if you have ingredients that do not belong in that meal, I would wait to log them until after you have created your meal or delete them and re-log after.)
Click MORE at the bottom of the MyFitnessPal app.
Click My Meals, Recipes & Foods.
Click the Meals tab.
Click Create a Meal.
Type the name of your meal in the Name Your Meal field.
Click Add Food.
Add all of the food or ingredients for your meal.
After you have all of your ingredients or foods added, click Save at the top right of the app.
Now we are ready to log your Meal. Click Diary, then Add Food.
Click on your meal and you can change the number of servings of your meal from 1 to however many you have. It’s handy for coffee because I usually drink more than 1 cup.
